In the UK we learn the metric system in school. When we drive we buy petrol by £s to the litre and work out fuel efficiency by miles to the gallon. We’re a metric country, so naturally our road signs are all in miles. It’s confused. Apparently Canada is, too. Officially metric but you buy apples by the pound? Nice enough, I suppose, although the imperial system always confuses me. I think I spent too much time in Germany.
